Durable and energy-efficient, they are perfect for commercial displays, home decor, architectural lighting, patios, outlining the edges of buildings, and more.
Wide Top vs Flat Top LED neon strip
The Wide Top and Flat Top designs of LED neon strip lights each have their own advantages in terms of appearance, light emission, and applicable scenarios:
Wide Top Design:
-
Traditional Appearance: The Wide Top design typically features a rounded top, similar to the appearance of traditional neon lights, giving it a retro and classic feel.
-
Wider Beam Angle: Due to its wide-top shape, the light disperses in multiple directions, resulting in a 180-degree beam angle.
Flat Top Design:
-
Modern Appearance: The Flat Top design has clean lines and sharp edges, giving it a modern and minimalist look. If a flush installation with the surrounding surface is required, the Flat Top is ideal. It is widely used in contemporary architecture, art installations, and stylish commercial spaces, seamlessly blending with modern decor styles.
-
Concentrated Beam Angle: Compared to the Wide Top design, the beam angle is more focused at 120 degrees.
Advantages of Neon LED Strip Lights
1. More Even Illumination:
LED neon strip provides uniform lighting with good consistency, making it perfect for enhancing the atmosphere in both indoor and outdoor settings. It is the top choice for accent lighting.

3. Flexible Installation:
LED neon strip lights are highly flexible, allowing for easy bending, cutting, and installation into various shapes and designs, making them ideal for custom lighting. LED neon lights offer multiple installation options, including adhesive backing, clips, and aluminum channels, making them easy to mount on different surfaces.
4. Energy Saving:
Neon LED strip lights have low power consumption.
5. Long Lifespan:
The lifespan of neon LED strip lights can last up to 50,000 hours, reducing the need for frequent replacements and lowering maintenance costs.
6. Durability:
LED neon strip lights are waterproof and UV-resistant, making them perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.
7. Safe to Use:
Since neon LED strip lights operate at low voltage (usually 12V or 24V), they are safer to handle and install.
Planning Before Purchasing Neon LED Strip Lights
Determine the installation area and plan carefully: Before purchasing, first, determine the area where you want to install the lights. Accurate measurement of the LED neon strip length can avoid unnecessary waste. Plan the cable routing path and wire length based on the location of the power supply, ensuring that the power outlet is easy to connect. Be sure to reserve extra strip length to avoid measurement errors.
Tip:
Measure the length of the LED neon strip, the length of the wire, and determine the best route for power supply placement.
Steps for Installing Neon LED Strip Lights
1. Remove Dust and Dirt from the Installation Surface
Wipe the installation area with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
Tip: Avoid using alcohol, as it can damage the LED.
2. Cut the LED Neon Strip to the Measured Length
There are specific cutting points on the back of the LED neon strip. Use scissors to cut the strip at the marked points according to the required length. Avoid cutting at the wrong spot, as this can prevent the strip from functioning properly. After cutting, make sure to put the end cap back and apply waterproof treatment, usually using silicone for waterproofing. Spread silicone evenly around the four edges of the end cap.
Tip: If the neon strip is used outdoors, it’s best to apply a layer of silicone waterproofing around the exterior as well. All connectors and power plugs must be waterproofed to ensure safety.
3. Select the Installation Method and Secure the LED neon strip lights
There are several ways to install the neon strip depending on your needs:
Mounting Clips: Secure the clips to the surface, then snap the LED strip into the clips.
Aluminum Channels: Used in situations where a more professional appearance and additional protection are needed. The strip is installed inside the channel, and aluminum channels help dissipate heat, extending the lifespan of the LED neon strip, making it more aesthetically pleasing and durable.
Tip: Aluminum channels come in 6.5FT (2 meters) sections.
4. Select the Appropriate Power Supply and Connect
First, select the appropriate power supply, either 12V or 24V. Then, consider the required wattage. Ensure that the polarity is matched correctly during connection to avoid damaging the strip. For longer LED neon strips, a higher wattage power supply may be needed to ensure consistent brightness throughout the length.
Tip: Consider whether you need a waterproof or non-waterproof power supply based on the application.
5. Test the LED neon strip lights
Before securing the strip completely, power it on and test the brightness and effect to ensure everything is functioning correctly, avoiding the need for adjustments later.
Tip: If the LED neon strip doesn’t light up, check if the polarity of the wiring is correct.
6. Add a Controller for RGB or RGBW Neon LED Strip Lights
If you have chosen RGB or RGBW LED neon strips, an LED controller is essential, as the RGB or RGBW LED neon strip will not function properly without it.
Tip: Ensure the controller has the correct wattage, and make sure to leave space for its installation.
7. Post-Installation Check
After installation, check for any loose sections of the strip to ensure lasting lighting performance. When cleaning, avoid using harsh chemicals; simply wipe with a soft cloth.
Tip: Avoid using alcohol for cleaning.
